A house in Baranowo
Facility data:
facility: development of a bungalow
location: Baranowo near Poznań
design date: 2004
usable surface before development: 69m²
usable surface after development: 166m²
Investor's requirements:
To design development of existing bungalow. There must be a habitat part and office part with separate kitchen and bathroom. The important requirement is to provide intimacy for habitants (the house is located by crossroads and on an altitude) and a visual division of the house from the street. The building must remain one storey only with availability of addition of upper storey.
Solutions used:
The existing building was developed by additional part including living room with kitchen, guest room, bedroom, bathroom and garage. In the old part, the roof was replaced and it was adapted for an office. The building has rib-and-slap floor what enables outbuilding of additional storey.
The building is located in the end part of the lot, far from the road. Just in front of the house, there is a terrace and an access road and in front of it thick greenery of a medium height. This solution provides intimacy for habitants by visual division from road traffic and by creation of private area in front of the building. Due to the fact that the lot is quite narrow in its back section, only the front of the building is visible and other sides are on the boundaries of neighboring lots in a form of a wall. The problem of low daylight in the bedroom and guest room was solved by an internal patio which is an impressive part of this building.
