The Hotel in Slovenia
Facility data:
facility: hotel for artists “The shelter for dying professions”
location: Bled lake in Slovenia
design date: 2007
usable area: 1940m2
Investor's requirements:
To design a building functioning as a hotel and resting place with guest rooms, kitchen part and internal garage place. To be composed in mountain landscape of the resort by the Bled lake.
Solutions used:
Very interesting shape of building – modern building with traditional, steep roof (requirement of the local development plan).
One of challenges was the fact that the facility was to be designed on a quite steep scarp what resulted in fact that the building's front entrance is on the level of the third overground storey. Local slight earthquakes were another problem and in order to protect the building from cracking, vertical reinforcement were used every 6 meters.
An architectonic form composes in surrounding landscape, preserves atmosphere of a luxurious resort despite its minimalistic-futuristic shape.
In the first storey, there are parking places, guest rooms and restaurant.
The investor decided to postpone realization of the project.
