Apartment in Poznań

Facility data:

facility: a flat in the building constructed in 1942
location: Poznań
design date:  2008
surface: 75m2

Investor's requirements:

Redevelopment of functional setting of rooms. Creation of comfortable flat for 2 persons, with much open space but including solutions enabling every-day life comfort.

Solutions used:

The spatial arrangement of rooms was significantly modified.  The most of flat's surface is taken by the living room and other rooms are quite small but have precisely thought over functions.  The wall dividing two biggest rooms was removed and there was one living room with open kitchen left.  One small half-open room was arranged. It functions as a work office with a guest bed.  The kitchen, of 15 square meters surface, was adapted for a bedroom with dressing room.

Spaciousness was provided by selection of bright colors:  white walls, light grey floor and white modern furniture.  We used historical elements of that building such as uncovered bricks, old wooden external shutters, parquet and radiators.  Decrements in walls made by removing electric cables were marked by highlighted screens which simultaneously create intimate atmosphere of the interior.

The bathroom is kept in rocky grey colors that enliven bright furniture and elements of green mosaic.  In order to obtain maximum use of space, a deep paddling pool was built which can function as a bathtub.  In a niche above the washing machine, a drier was made using floor heating and shutter curtain.  The place for cats cuvette was provided in the bathroom.

Almost half of the bedroom’s surface is used for dressing room space. This solution enables easier keeping of cleanness.  The bedroom’s atmosphere is a little different from a minimalistic decorations of other parts of the flat and it is supposed to refer to owner's passion for windsurfing.  Application of photo-wallpaper of a seaside terrace and putting a rattan armchair and a surfboard against such background create a feeling of larger surface and express seaside atmosphere.
